Research areas

Our laboratory is engaged in the research and development of assistive technologies in the fields of sports and welfare.
Specifically, we analyze sports from engineering and information science perspectives, focusing on the evaluation of athletic movements, training, and match analysis. This aims to contribute not only to improving athletic performance but also to preventing and improving sports injuries.
Furthermore, in the welfare field, we promote the research and development of assistive technologies that contribute to improving people’s quality of life (QOL), starting from the evaluation of activities of daily living (ADL).

Main facilities

1. Biometric measurement: Wearable heart rate measurement system, myoelectric measurement system
2. Motion analysis: Data logger type inertial sensor, motion capture system, floor reaction force measurement system, seat pressure measurement system, real-time 3D skeletal detection system
3. Para-sports equipment: wheelchairs for tennis competitions, wheelchairs for badminton competitions, and Wheelchair-accessible ring toss equipment

Message

In recent years, there have been an increasing number of cases in which the application of information processing technology to sports has contributed to the advancement of athletic techniques and the victory of athletes and teams. Furthermore, the elucidation of human body functions and athletic movements is indispensable for the development of comfortable and excellent sports equipment and the prevention and improvement of sports disorders.
